WEEK 5

FINAL LOOK FOR HARDWARE PART

For this week, the final look of the modified wheelchair after several modification had been done onto the wheelchair. The last part for the modification was to add up extra shaft to support the actuator motor so that the actuator motor can go lower from the original position from previous design. The look of the wheelchair look like this:

Extended shaft to hold the actuator motor

So the movement of the actuator motor also change from the previous design. The maximum and the minimum stroke length of the actuator motor also have a slight different length compared to the previous design.

Below is the movement of the actuator from the maximum to the minimum level of the stroke length

The maximum level of stroke length for the actuator motor to push the seat upward

The minimum level of stroke length for the actuator motor to pull the seat downward

That is all for the week, as the final hardware part is done on this week.

WEEK 4

PART 3 : FINAL (SOON) PROGRESSION OF THE HARDWARE PART

For this week I decided to make some testing on the actuator motor and the stability of the seat to hold the weight of a person.

The video shows that how the actuator motor will work. The actuator move upward when the power supply is on. The power supply for this actuator motor is 12V dc and I have tested it with a power adaptor that I borrowed from my supervisor . Thank you sir 😊

The video shows how the seat move downward. This is only the testing of the functionality of the motor to work.

Next would be the stability of the seat . Here a video of the actuator motor actually move with a person sit on the wheelchair.

In this video, the person weight about 40 kg to 50 kg. So it is prove that the actuator motor can hold a person with that range of weight. The actuator motor still use the same power supply to move. while the stability of the seat is still under progress and it will be secured after all the modification have been finalised. Here is the video of the actuator motor move downward while the a person sit on the wheelchair.

Some of the picture that prove the actuator motor can hold a person weight.

It is safe for a person to seat on the wheelchair as it is proven

while for some extra safety of a person on the wheelchair, an extra back support is added up at the back of the seat .

Before and after of the back of the wheelchair

Also, a foot rest had been installed to the wheelchair for the person's comfort.

Front view of the wheelchair complete with all the extra features

I have conclude the over all of the hardware part progress below:

The process of the hardware from beginning until the final look of the modified wheelchair

So that's all for this week progress. The next task that my supervisor gave me are:

a) To finish up the remaining hardware part
b) To add up some information in the report journal

WEEK 3

PART 2 : PROGRESS ON THE HARDWARE PART

For this week, I have made several meet up with my supervisor regarding my hardware progress of this project. My supervisor had given me some idea to modify the wheelchair which to add some part to the wheelchair as well as to agreed with the design and progress of the hardware with the welding part. So this week progress on the hardware part will look like this:

Still in welding process

The actuator motor that had been assembled with the wheelchair

A bearing were placed at the back of the seat

Installation actuator motor to the seat which was under the seat

Extra iron rod for the actuator motor to hold

Close up of the actuator motor being attach under the seat

Connection of the lower part of the actuator motor

Above are some of the progression that had been done for the wheelchair. For week 4, before I proceed with the final modification of the wheelchair, I will run some testing on the ability of the seat and the actuator motor to hold a person weight. And maybe to have some other features for the wheelchair that can be add up soon.

WEEK 2

PROGRESS ON THE HARDWARE PART

For week 2 progression, I have been gone to the welding shop for some modification for my wheelchair project. The first progress of the wheelchair looks like this:

New seat had been installed to the wheelchair

Front view of the modified wheelchair

Back view of the wheelchair

View under the seat

Extra support for the seat (view under the seat)

All of the modification had been done for week 2. Next week will be the instalment of the actuator motor to the wheelchair and other parts will be add up later.

SEMESTER 2 FINAL YEAR PROJECT 2

WEEK 1

NEW TASK

Assalamulaikum and welcome again. So this new semester for final year project 2 will be more work to be done and progress will be more updated inshaaAllah. For the first week of this semester, I and my supervisor have been planning the journey of completing the project on time. The planning for the progress of the project for this semester will begin with the hardware part, then to the software part and lastly would the testing of the project along with some data collection for the report later. This is some roughly planning for this semester progress.

Planning of the progress for this semester

For this week, I had my meeting with my supervisor. The task that had been given to me for this week are:

1) To find a welding shop for upgrading the wheelchair
2) Write a report in the form of journal

So after the meeting, the following day I go for a welding shop near BMI and alhamdulillah the welding shop willing to accept my wheelchair for any upgrade according to my preference. Here is the situation at the welding shop:

From the above video, Im explaining on how and what I want to upgrade the wheelchair.

So that is all for this week.
